Mmmm Nails Chewy Fun Swatch & Review

Happy Halloween everyone!!!!!!

Today I have another treat from MmmmNails. I must admit, when I pulled this one out of the box I wasn't too thrilled with it. Then I put it on over black and was immediately in love. Chewy Fun is a mixture of purple, yellow, and fuschia glitter of different shapes and sizes in a clear base. In the bottle the base looks like a dingy yellow but its clear on the nail. I used the dab and swish method of applying this polish since the larger glitters tend to be harder to brush on. I needed to fish out the flower shaped glitters. This is layered over OPI Black Onyx and only needed one coat of top coat to smooth it out. All the glitters layed flat on the nail so I didn't have to worry about snagging my pantyhose :)
How beautiful is this?!!!

I am quickly becoming a huge fan of Monique's and her polish making skills.

You can find MmmmNails on etsy for only $7.99

I hope eveyone has a happy & safe Halloween.

Mmmm Nails Sugar Yum Swatch & Review

I want to thank all the well wishers who expressed their concerns for us east coasters during our Hurricane/Tropical Storm/Noreaster Hybrid storm Sandy. I faired pretty well but many did not and I want to extend my prayers to those who lost their homes or had damage to their property. Two people lost their lives here in CT due to the storm. I alson want to send a shout out to the USPS who was still out there delivering mail. I even got some nail mail! Talk about WOOHOOO!

I recieved a package from a new to me indie polish maker. Monique from MmmmNails has a beautiful and fun polish line based on sweet confections. These polishes deliver a satisfying flavor for all those sweet tooths out there. When I opened up my package there were 10 yummies waiting for me to swatch. I grabbed 2 and immediately got to work before the power went out (it never did).

The first polish I tried was Sugar Yum. When I took this one out the box my eyes almost popped out of my head. I just knew this one would be amazing to look at on my nails. Sugar Yum is a red/orange toned coral with heavy golden fleck/shimmer. The formula was a little thick and goopy but strangely not too hard to work with. I used 3 coats with a base coat and top coat. Before adding the top coat Sugar Yum dried pretty smooth and pretty fast considering its thickness. Take a look at this beauty.

My camera had trouble capturing the golden shimmer n this beauty. I really love this polish.

You can find MmmmNails on etsy for $7.99

Go Pink Wednesday on Thursday

Go Pink Wedensday
Since I most shamefully forgot to post a manicure for Go Pink Wednesday yesterday and worked until midnight, I decided to look in my folder for a pink manicure that I never posted. I know, I know...I can do better than that but I seriously wanted to put something up and I just haven't had time to paint my nails. I found this pretty little number in my unedited pics and decided to post it. It's OPI Your Web or Mine which is a rose pink with a pearly finish from the Spiderman Collection. I remember the formula itself being okay but I don't remember how many coats I used. It is a little brushstrokey which I don't usually like but I didn't really mind it too much with this color.

OPI Announces Brand’s First International Short Film

Instinct of Color!

OPI Announces Brand’s First International Short Film

OPI pays hommage to its Culture of Color with the international launch of its first branded film. Set to the French DJ band C2C’s “Down the Road,” the video features a surrealistic dance-off between four female dancers and a gorgeous Thoroughbred, as trained by equestrian stuntmaster Mario Luraschi.
Named after OPI’s classic black nail lacquer, Lady in Black (known as Black Onyx in North America) brought to the film a repetoire of moves including tap steps and dancing en pointe, while showcasing bestselling OPI colors on her hooves.
The film’s four featured lacquers – Pink-ing of You, Red My Fortune Cookie, Need Sunglasses? and No Room for the Blues – each represent one style of dance and one overarching theme, illustrating OPI nail lacquer as a means of self-expression.
“I always say that nail lacquer can change your look – and your outlook,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP and Artistic Director. “Today, nail color can convey feelings and emotions, expressing on the outside what the wearer is feeling on the inside. In this short film, four women communicate through dance and color. With a trained Thoroughbred who could replicate the dancers’ moves with very little digital enhancement,  we were able to capture the unique, energetic and creative culture that epitomizes the OPI brand.”
The video launches worldwide on October 24, 2012. Please visit OPI on YouTube to view!

The Cat With The Golden Fur..Er Foil?

Hey guys. Today I hang my head in shame :( I forgot to do a mani for Pink Wednesday. Ever since I got sick, I can't get my days in order. So instead, I have an incredibly fierce manicure that reminds me of a glam cheetah cat. Rawr! I used 3 coats of OPI Goldeneye which is a super opaque gold shimmer. I then topped it off with a coat of Icing Shredded and 2-3 coats of top coat. Voila!

Oopsie Daisies Michief Night

A while ago I ordered the Halloween Harvest Duopack from Oopsie Daisies on etsy. It came with Apple Picking which I posted here and Mischief Night. Mischief Night is a black jelly base chock full of orange and purple glitter of different sizes. The formula on this was a little thick but that only made it easy to build up to opacity. I used 2 coats and a top coat.

I only wish pictures did this polish justice. It was so much nicer IRL. The glitters seemed to glow from within the polish much like they did with Tyranny shown here.

Happy Hands: Z for Zombies

I'm baaaack! Hello my wonderful readers. I want to apologize for my prolonged absence. I was terribly ill and just could not get the energy to blog. I even wore the same polish for over a week 0_o Anyone who knows me knows that is rare. So thank you for being so understanding. I decided that since I wore this polish for over a week I should at least showcase it here. It is Z for Zombies by Happy Hands. It has a pea soup green base with red shard glitter as well as green and yellow glitter in the mix. The formula was a little thick but easy to work with and was actually opaque in 2 easy coats. It dried pretty smooth but I added topcoat out of habit.

So what do you think? I had a coworker tell me it looked like puke! Ew! I like this polish a lot. Its interesting and creative. I have never seen any other like. A winner to me.

Go Pink Wednesday With Another OPI

Go Pink Wedensday

Hey lovies. I have a short post for you today and I'm sorry it's so late. I got called in to work early and just got home not too long ago. I also think I may have an ear infection which is making me feel a little blah. I wanted to post this today for Go Pink Wednesday whilke it was still technically Wednesday.

For this manicure I used OPI If You Moust You Moust on my thumb, ring and pinky fingers. For my accent nails I used butterLondon The Black Knight layered over WnW Black Creme. I absolutely LOVE this manicure. I have gotten so many compliments on it at work. I like how The Black Knight is chock full of pink and blue microglitter. The formula on If You Moust You Moust was a little bit hard to work with. It was a little runny and kept wanting to pool up on my cuticles. It was worth it in the end though.

OPI Gouda Gouga Two Shoes

Hi Guys! I have been an absentee blogger lately. I'm sorry. I have been sick and just so freakin tired...literally. I haven't even painted my nails in days 0_o
Today I have an OPI from The Holland Collection to show you. Its Gouda Gouda Two Shoes which is your grandma's mauvey pink with a hint of golden shimmer. At first, I hated this color. I would NEVER even think of wearing something like this. Now...I kinda like it. It's delicate and femenine. Does that mean I am getting old?! Nah!!!!! I am just able to appreciate the more grown-up side of polish. I still don't FEEL like a "grown-up." (I am 1 year shy of 30) Anywho! Back to the polish. I think I used 2 coats for these pics and topped it with a coat of quick dry TC. I have been using the ProFx TC lately as my Seche Vite is getting really low. The formula was okay. No real issues. I do like its subtle shimmer on the nail though I do wish it was a little more prominent.

Do you see what I mean about the shimmer?
I didn't watermark my photos since I didn't post from my regular computer but I might go back and edit later. What is your opinion of watermarking?

OPI Pink of Hearts 2012

Go Pink Wedensday

Hello Lovies. OPI has come out with a wonderful duopack to spotlite Breast Cancer Awareness month which is of course, October! For my first BCA manicure I decided to do a glitter gradient using the two colors in the duopack. I Think In Pink, a creamy bubblegum pink crelly (creme/jelly) and You Glitter Be Good To Me, a glitter bomb chock full of metallic rose pink glitter with magenta hex glitters in the mix.

The formula for I Think In Pink was good. It was a bit sheer at first but built up to nice coverage by the 3rd coat. You Glitter Be Good To Me was also good formula wise. It was so easy to do the gradient with this. I only used the brush to apply it. What do you think? I went crazy with pics since I love it so much <3
